From song to page
Image, rhythm and the turn of a page.
Gilberto Gil wrote Refloresta in 2021 following a request from photographer Sebastião Salgado. The song calls for the regeneration of forests and damaged landscapes.
Daniel Kondo translates its musical structure into a sequence of landscapes, animals, human presence, fire and regeneration. Colour, scale, repetition and pauses shape the rhythm of the book. Text, illustration and editorial design form the same visual narrative.
The Brazilian edition includes a foreword by Eliane Brum.
