Notes from the studio
Studio notes · Daniel Kondo
Occasional notes on picturebooks, visual narratives, book design, exhibitions, publishing and works in progress.
No noise. Drawings, books, process and ideas.
What arrives
A place for material that rarely fits on a portfolio page: sketches, visual decisions, prototypes, printing experiments, travels, exhibitions, reading notes and occasional detours.
New picturebooks, editions in progress, covers, spreads, objects and the decisions that shape them.
Drawings, discarded routes, print tests, visual systems and what happens between the first idea and the finished page.
Exhibitions, books encountered on the road, conversations, workshops, archives and things worth bringing back to the studio.
I send something when there is something worth sending.
Studio notes
The website holds the finished work. These notes make room for what happens around it: a drawing before it has a destination, a book taking shape, a printing problem, a reference found somewhere unexpected.
There will also be news when it matters: new publications, international editions, exhibitions, talks and projects leaving the studio.
Frequency is deliberately loose. The inbox has enough employees already.
